Team-building fundamentals

How to Build a Balanced Digimon Story: Time Stranger Team

A strong Time Stranger team is six usable Digimon, not six isolated stat totals. Start with the Digimon you want to play, then balance the battle trio, reserve trio, offensive coverage, weaknesses, and role fit around them.

Build one six-member party

The generator always chooses six roster members and divides them into a three-member Battle Party and three-member Reserve Party. Fixed guests provide combat context but do not occupy one of those six slots.

  • Add every realistically available Digimon to the roster, then disable candidates you would never field.
  • Mark up to six favorites as required when a formation must contain them.
  • Use battle and reserve role requirements only when placement is genuinely mandatory.
  • Treat scoring weights as preferences and hard limits as absolute rejection rules.

Balance without erasing personal preference

Coolness exists because the mathematically strongest team is not automatically the most enjoyable one. Give it enough weight to break close decisions, while stats, offensive coverage, weaknesses, and roles describe combat tradeoffs.

  • A high Role Fit score rewards distinct members who suit selected jobs.
  • Elemental offense rewards different damaging special-skill elements.
  • Weakness metrics reward fewer and less repeated exposed elements.
  • Attribute offense rewards approaching three Vaccine, three Data, and three Virus attackers across party and guest context.

Review the formation, not only its composite

Open each retained result to compare its metric breakdown and role builds. A lower-ranked formation can be the better choice for a specific fight when its resistances or damage profile match that encounter.

  • Check which roles landed in the active trio.
  • Inspect every elemental weakness count, including guest context.
  • Confirm recommended skills are not duplicating the same job.
  • Save named teams for fights that need different answers.
